One honest pixel at a time.
This desktop belongs to Ruth Ordner, an interface engineer who has spent nine years turning vague product briefs into software that feels inevitable. Everything on this desk opens. Nothing on this desk spins.
System requirements: 4 MB RAM, one-button mouse, mild nostalgia.

ClipDeck — a clipboard with a memory
Side project, 2023–present · Design, engineering and the icon, all Ruth
A clipboard manager for people who copy two hundred things a day and need the third one back. Every entry is searchable, pinnable and pasteable from a single global shortcut. It looks like a utility because it is one.
Written in: TypeScript, zero frameworks · Ships at: 38 KB gzipped · Crashes recorded: none since build 214.
- History list is virtualised — 10,000 entries scroll at a steady frame budget on a 2015 laptop.
- Fuzzy search answers in under 8 ms, because a paste you have to wait for is a paste you retype.
- Global hotkey layer written twice: once naively, once correctly, after the naive one ate a semicolon.
- Every action reachable by keyboard alone. The mouse is a guest here, not a landlord.
- Storage is a single append-only file. Corruption strategy: refuse to have any.
Numbers as of last reboot. Counted, not estimated.
