Valencia — Spanish
"Teaches the subjunctive like it's neighbourhood gossip. You will want to know what happens next."
A language school in Lisbon & online — four languages, groups of six
Parlaya is for people who would rather make mistakes out loud than stay silent in perfect grammar. Spanish, French, Portuguese and Italian — taught by people from the places the words come from.
01 — The Level Path
Six stations from A1 to C2, with two branch lines when you are ready to specialise. There are no express tickets — everyone stops at Small Talk.
02 — Phrasebook
Flip a card, then say it out loud. Nobody is listening — that is the point. One phrase from each of our classrooms.
03 — The Faculty
Every Parlaya teacher grew up inside the language they teach. Four of the twenty-three, straight from the passport office.
Valencia — Spanish
"Teaches the subjunctive like it's neighbourhood gossip. You will want to know what happens next."
Lyon — French
"Will not let you skip the vowels. Any of them. There are more than you think, and he knows where they hide."
Porto — Portuguese
"Explains saudade without translating it, which is the only correct way. Brings pastries on exam days."
Bologna — Italian
"Grades your hand gestures as strictly as your grammar. Both matter. Both will be on the exam."
04 — Postcards
We ask alumni to write us when the language finally clicks. They tend to write from somewhere sunny.
"I ordered coffee in Porto and the waiter didn't switch to English. I nearly cried into the galão. Ten months ago I couldn't say my own name in Portuguese."
"My teacher made me argue about football in Spanish for twenty minutes. I lost the argument and found my accent. Fair trade, I think."
"The metro map on the classroom wall wasn't a metaphor after all. I rode it station by station and passed my B2 exam on the first try."
05 — Departures
Every cohort starts with a free 20-minute placement chat — a conversation, not a test. We find your station; you just show up.
